Eversource Life Support Customers (LSC)
Who are Life Support Customers?
Life Support Customers (LSC) are residential customers who rely on electrically powered medical equipment. They are identified in Eversource’s customer information system through a certification.
Communications
Pre-storm & During Restoration: Automated calls provide updates on outages, Eversource preparations, and recommended protective actions (e.g. contacting local public safety or human service agencies).
ERP Activations
- Community Liaisons monitor reports for affected LSCs.
- Municipal Hub: Public Safety officials can view the Special Conditions Report for outage information
- Outreach calls are made to impacted LSCs.
Post Event: LSCs are contacted to confirm power restoration and safety of returning home.
Becoming an LSC
To enroll, a registered physician, advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) or physician’s assistant (PA) must complete a medical certificate of illness form online at the link below.
The following information will be required:
– Electrically operated equipment is in use
– Illness classification (i.e. life-threatening)
– Length of medical illness
– Patient name, address, and contact information
Online Application:
Eversource.com/MDform
Annual renewal required.
Please note that certification does not prioritize service for faster restoration in the event of a power outage. We encourage customers to have an alternate source of energy in the event of a prolonged electic interruption. This certification has no impact to medical protection already applied to customer accounts.
