*IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MARRIAGE LICENSES- PLEASE READ*
Public Act 26-141, Sections 6 & 7 updates CT General Statute Section 46b-24 and 46b-25
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026
There is now a minimum 48 hour waiting period from the time the marriage license application is completed, to the time the marriage license may be issued. Couples must come into the office to apply, and MUST pick up their license after the 48 hour minimum waiting period. For questions and/or to make sure you are getting your license timely please call the office: 860-435-5182.

Monday, October 19- Sunday November 1 at Salisbury Town Hall
10 am to 6 pm
8 am to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29

Tuesday, November 3, 2026- Salisbury Town Hall 6 am to 8 pm

Starting Friday December 5th, the Town Hall and Town Clerks Office will close at 3:00pm on FRIDAYS.

     The office is on the first floor to the right of the main doors at Town Hall, 27 Main Street. This office is accessible to anyone who needs to research any vital record. Within the vault are land records, birth, marriage and death records, applications, licenses, warnings, agendas, and minutes relative to all Town Boards and Committees.

Happy Wedding Season!
There is no need to make an appointment to get your marriage license. We do ask if you have an idea of when you will be coming into the office, please give us a heads up. The process takes around 20 minutes, so we do ask if you come in the morning please get here by 12:00, and by 3:00 in the afternoon (2:30 on Fridays). The marriage information packet above includes more information!
PLEASE NOTE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026 THERE IS A 48 HOUR WAITING PERIOD ON THE ISSUANCE OF MARRIAGE LICENSES.

Dog License Renewal, use link below:

Dog licensing begins June 1st.  If you registered your dog with us last year, you should receive a reminder in the mail.  You may mail your renewal with payment and updated rabies certificate (if needed) to the Town Clerk’s Office, PO Box 548, Salisbury, CT 06068, stop in the office, or renew on line using the link below.

Dog License Renewal can only be renewed online from June 1 – August 31.

RECORDING FEE CHANGES: EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025 PER PUBLIC ACT 25-168
Recording Document (excluding any document with a Nominee): $70.00 for the first page, $5.00 for each additional page
Recording Nominee Documents: $160.00 flat fee for Assignments and Releases of Mortgage where the nominee is the Grantor.
$160.00 for first page and $5.00 for each additional page for all documents except nominee as Grantor of Assignments and Releases.

Town of Salisbury Launches Fraud Alert to Notify Property Owners of New Transactions

The Salisbury Town Clerk is providing a free new tool to help property owners protect one of their most valuable assets. With Fraud Alert, you can sign up to receive alerts whenever a document, such as a deed or mortgage, is recorded under your name. Documents can be viewed online or at the Clerk’s Office.
